Making everyday sparkle.

I have had writers block for about a month now, and was desperate to get back to blogging. I went to Twitter with my frustrations and my wonderful friend Ellie suggested I write about my glitter obsessions, stating that I am the 'Sequin Queen'. So here we go!

Everybody who knows me knows I am like a magpie. If something is shiny or glittery I am instantly drawn to it, and I have spent far to much money of things with glitter on. It's hilarious how many people tag me in posts about glitter on facebook. Apart from cheese, it's my favourite thing.

Where I can I try and use eco-friendly, biodegradable glitter, as normal glitter is just microscopic plastic, meaning it can be really harmful to our planet and our animal friends. Check out Eco Glitter Fun at https://www.ecoglitterfun.com/

I try to intergrate sparkle into my daily life, whether that be through my clothes, accessories or make up. Here are my top tips to making every day sparkle!

Buy a staple item.

A really easy way to make every outfit glittery is to invest in something you can wear over and over again. My staple item is my Topshop Green Glitter Bomber Jacket. I spotted this beauty in the last chance to buy section, and could not leave it behind, despite the quite hefty price tag. I particularly loved the way the jacket changes colour when you stroke the sequins. It goes with so many different outfits and has had many outings at festivals, parties and nights out. It has the power to make a pretty boring outfit into something really special. Mine was quite expensive however there are so many cheaper alternatives available on the high street.

Always have a sparkly accessory to hand.

Sometimes it is difficult to make a certain outfit sparkle. No matter what you do, there is just something missing. Having a few glittery accessories can really change an outfit. As glitter and sequins are really popular at the moment, you can find a wide range of bags, shoes, socks etc in pretty much every high street shop. My personal favourite at the moment is my Mermaid Shell Bag from HOME BARGAINS! I know! It only cost around a fiver too so it's a really cheap way to embrace your inner mythical creature.

Find items that you can dress up or down.

Glitter doesn't have to be reserved just for night outs or festivals. There are so many items out there that can be worn in everyday life. There is something about popping to the shops whilst sparkling that is so special. I have a few items that I can dress down, such as the Green Glitter Skirt from H&M that I've had for years, and my new Metallic Jumpsuit from New Look that I dressed down at my Hen Do (mainly because I couldn't bear to wear high heels for the second night in a row). The best thing about having many glittery items in your wardrobe is getting inventive and most of all, having fun!

Upgrade your makeup.

Glittery faces are seen everywhere at summer festivals, but why stop there? Using glitter in your makeup routine is a great way to mix things up a bit, and really draw attention to your lovely features. My favourite ways to use glitter is around my eyes, either on the eyelid or in the corners. You can be as brave as you like using really bold colours, or stick to silvers and golds for a more subtle look. My go-to glitter glue is the Dust & Dance Cosmetic glue. It keeps the glitter in place all day and the applicator is super easy to use and really accurate. Just make sure that you are careful when using glitter near your eyes, as they can get quite irritated.

Make yourself like Edward Cullen and shimmer all over.

There are some days where I just want to achieve a subtle shimmer, and there are many products out there to help achieve the Edward Cullen look. My two favourites are from Lush and The Body Shop. The Fairy Dust Dusting Powder is a Christmas exclusive, but lasts me all year. It works as a talc powder, creating a lovely shimmer on the skin, and smells divine! The Body Shop's Sparkler comes in a few different colours, and comes in a bottle with a pump. This allows for great coverage, and means that you aren't wasting the shimmer by pouring it everywhere.

And there we have it, an easy guide to making everyday as sparkly as possible! I am always looking forward to finding new sequin covered items, and I've got my eyes on quite a few. I also have the most amazing pair of glittery wedding shoes that I CAN'T WAIT to show you all.

Wearing glitter fills me with such confidence and joy. So if you're going to give it a go, just make sure you do what makes you feel good and most importantly HAVE FUN!

Till next time, stay golden.
