First my mother, forever my friend.

It's my mums birthday weekend. I'm living at my dads and working in a supermarket all weekend so can't spend it with her. I am also super poor at the moment, so can't treat my mum to something she deserves. So, instead, I've decided to share all the reasons why my mum, Jan, is a superhero.
1 - She's resilient.
My mum has gone through many hard times. Being a single parent whilst coping with heartbreak is no easy feat, especially when you have 3 kids like Connor, Chloe and I. However, my incredible mother has picked herself up each time, dusting herself off and showing us that there isn't time to wallow about in our sadness. She has taught me that if something isn't right you can fix it or walk away; your happiness is paramount, and there is always a way to find it.

2 - She's incredibly supportive.
I've made some great decisions in my life, and some not so great ones. I've ruined my hair, moved miles and miles away, and am now planning a wedding at the young age of 22. No matter what I have put my mind to, Jan has had my back through it all. Of course she has voiced her honest opinions (she absolutely HATED my pink undercut...and so did I!), but she has always put my feelings first. If I wanted something she would help me find a way to make it happen.

3 - She always the fashionista.
My mum has so many clothes. I'm talking two wardrobes full! Over the years she has established a definite Jan style, and has more love heart necklaces and scarves that you can count on your hands. When I look at photos of mum before I came along I'm so envious of her wardrobe! I wish she had kept some of her incredible outfits, just so I could steal them! She always makes an effort and looks fabulous, something I wish I will eventually inherit...( I am far too comfortable looking like a slob).

4 - She is so much fun.
I have lost count of the fun nights I have had with my mum. We both love a good tipple and a sing song, and are the firsts ones up when it comes to karaoke. Paradise By The Dashboard Light is our go to song in case you were wondering. She has shown me what it's like to really enjoy myself, let my hair down and have a proper giggle. I love nights out with my mum so much that I have joined her on some of her work nights out in Liverpool! I mean, if you can't lose your inhibitions and dance like a loon with your own mother, who can you do it with????

5 - She's the best shoulder to cry on.
I come from a family of criers. Both my mum and dad aren't afraid to show their emotions and wear their hearts on their sleeves, and it's definitely something I have inherited. Those who know me will agree that I cry at anything. My mum has always, and always will be, the first person I go to in times of sadness. She can read me like a book, and somehow always knows the right thing to say. She is so encouraging and full of empathy, and I always feel much better after crying it out with her. Most times she will join me in my tears, but it's not long till we are laughing and smiling again.

Jan is the bestest mother and friend I could have asked for. As I get older I see a lot more of her in myself, and I couldn't be prouder.
Mum, I love you. Have a great birthday x
