My Disney top five.

Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE Disney. I thought I was a big fan anyway, but then after working at the Disney Store for a year, my obsession grew a lot. I dread to think how much money I spent on Disney merch during my time there. In this blog post I thought I would count down my top five favourite Disney films and tell you why. Make sure to let me know which ones you like too!

5 - Lilo and Stitch

As a kid, I adored Lilo and Stitch, and owned all of the DVDs, but it's so obvious that the first one is the best. I, like most people, love Stitch. He's the right mix of adorable and funny, and I will forever laugh at him dressed up as Elvis. Like most young girls, I found Lilo so relatable, with her 'life's not fair' attitude and her love for all things strange and odd. The watercolour backgrounds, paired with some great music, make Lilo and Stitch a treat to watch over and over.

4 - Moana

Moana came out whilst I was working at the Disney Store and due to being so busy selling the merch it took me ages to go see the film. As soon as I had watched it though, I knew it deserved a place in my top five. The graphics in the film are so beautiful and advanced and the music is INCREDIBLE (of course it is - it's written by Lin-Manuel Miranda). The story-line is forward thinking, with no hint of romance, so it's great for both girls and boys. I loved all the characters, but my favourite by far was Moana's Grandmother. Her kind and free spirit makes her one of my favourite characters of all time.

3 - Mulan

I think we can all safely agree that 'Make a Man Out of You' is the greatest Disney song of all time. However, that is not the only reason why Mulan makes my list. I really looked up to Mulan as a child (perhaps she paved the way for my feminist ways). I saw her as so strong and loyal to her family, and not afraid to 'get down to business' when times got hard. She taught me that girls can do whatever they put their minds too. I'm still trying to find out how she wiped her makeup off with one wipe however...

2- Tangled

Rapunzel is, without a doubt, my favourite princess of all time. She reminds me of myself so much - she's clumsy, she sees the best in people, she yearns for adventure and is a true free spirit. Tangled is my go to film whenever I am feeling down and need cheering up. I love every single song on the soundtrack and can't help but sing along when any of them come on. Flynn Rider is also a wonderful character, and Rapunzel and him together make my heart melt more than any other Disney pair.

1. Hercules

Honey, you mean HUNKULES! I will forever love this movie, and stand by the claim that it is so underrated. It's the only Disney film where I love the villain just as much as I love the hero. All the characters have flaws, which is why they are so likeable. Like Tangled, every single song is a classic, and the constant musical narration from the Muses is bound to get my shoulders wagging. As you can probably guess by now I love independent Disney women, and Megara is queen of them all. Her sassy 'I don't need a man' comebacks are inspirational, and every girl should take a note out of her book.
